Did Madden 15’s Cover Art Just Leak Online?
When Richard Sherman beat out Cam Newton for the cover of Madden 15, there were some polarized fans who claimed they wouldn’t be buying the game with him on the front. Now, as what appears to be Madden’s new cover has leaked online, some might refuse to buy it for a whole new reason: They think it’s ugly.
Earlier today online retailers like Amazon and Gamestop replaced their place-holder art for Madden NFL 15 pre-orders with a new, seemingly legitimate cover art for Madden 15. The game art uses a pose that can be traced back to EA’s behind-the-scenes cover shoot, and shows what appears to be Sherman doing his own brand of a kamehamEAha.
It’s not entirely clear whether or not this is the official game cover just yet, as EA has not yet revealed the fresh look anywhere on their site. It’s possible this is just an updated placement holder to help drive pre-orders while the cover is still being decided, and EA hasn’t officially said anything about it yet, so take this with a grain of salt.
Early criticisms regarding the cover’s chosen design have already emerged on social media, and have some hoping that Sherman’s petition to get the Legion of Boom on the cover will pay off, if just to avoid what could be the game’s new look. Personally, I don’t like the Madden 15 cover design floating around online right now at all, and I feel like it does Madden 15’s highest rated player a bit of an injustice. But, of course, that’s just my own opinion.
What do you think of the cover art that’s making its rounds online? Do you like it? Let us know in the poll below, or in the comments section just a bit further down.
Update: EA’s official Madden Facebook & Twitter have just updated their backgrounds to match this cover art, and it is now also prominently featured on their official pre-order page. Looks like we were right!
