Madden 15 Cover Vote Ends Tomorrow: Who Will Win?
There is only one more day remaining until the Madden 15 cover vote will close, and a new athlete is chosen to grace the prestigious game cover. But who will win?
The fan-voted cover tournament started out with sixteen total names, but has been refined all the way down to two as Seattle Seahawks DB Richard Sherman and Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton have been battling it out in the polls for the past week.
It would be easy to say that Richard Sherman — for all his skill and popularity — is one of the most polarizing figures in the NFL right now, and that fact could work against him as many might be encouraged to not just vote for him, but to actively vote against him. On the other hand, he has been blasting through the competition in the tournament, no-doubt bolstered by coming off a Super Bowl championship.
In the first round, Sherman disposed of upcoming wideout Alshon Jeffery by amassing 73% of the votes. In round two, he took out famed TE Jimmy Graham with 65%, and again in the semi-finals he shut down QB Colin Kaepernick. In a word, the road to Cam Newton has been “easy.” You mad bro?
For Cam Newton, the road to the finals has been much more contested. In the past two rounds, Newton picked up 56% and 58% of the votes against Andrew Luck and Jamaal Charles respectively. It will be interesting to see if fans take up Newton’s cause in the final (Newton being a die-hard Madden fan and all), or if Sherman’s skills at the cornerback position will earn him the honors of the cover.
The cover vote for Madden 15 ends tomorrow, June 6th.
MAJOR UPDATE: Richard Sherman has won! Congrats to the Seattle Seahawk on his new Madden 15 cover.
