Madden 15 Best FS Ratings: Jairus Byrd is King

The best free safeties in Madden 15 have arrived.
The best free safeties in Madden 15 have arrived.

Madden 15 ratings for the best free safeties in this year’s upcoming football video game from EA SPORTS are finally here, and you might be surprised to learn just how similar things are to last season.

Madden NFL 15 ratings have been revealed by EA every day for the last week, and will continue to be revealed until August 4th, when the top players at each position as well as all the individual team ratings have been unearthed.

While the ratings release process has gone relatively smoothly, there have been a few hiccups that have caused delays in a few ratings. While we’ve got the heads up on the free safety ratings shortly before official release, we’re still not sure whether or not strong safeties will make it in today as intended, or if they will be pushed back into tomorrow.

For now, however, let’s talk about what we do have: The Madden 15 ratings for the best free safeties in the game. Who made the top list, who was left just outside, and what well-established veteran found himself just inside this season’s elite?

Madden 15 Best FS Ratings: Jairus Byrd is #1

Former Buffalo Bills and current New Orleans Saints free safety Jairus Byrd has quickly become one of the most dangerous players at the position, and that is best evidenced by his 96 overall rating in Madden NFL 15. Byrd finished out the Madden 25 season with the same rating, and there was no reason to downgrade the best safety in the game.

Sliding in at #2 is Super Bowl champion Earl Thomas who many have argued should be rated better than Byrd, however he once again finds himself playing second fiddle with a 95 overall rating. Last season, Thomas couldn’t quite catch Byrd on the ratings chart, and it appears the same will be true heading into the new season.

Perhaps not surprisingly, Eric Weddle of the San Diego Chargers retained the 94 overall rating he finished with last season. In fact, the top three rated players are in the same order, and rated the same as how they ended the previous year. It’s not until we get down to New England Patriots’ star safety Devin McCourty (94) that we see a change in ratings, as the young safety improved upon his 93 rating in the offseason.

Closing out the top five in free safety ratings is the ever-ageless Oakland Raiders’ Charles Woodson, who stood strong at 86 overall while those around him dropped. It’s incredible how well Woodson has been able to transition to the safety position, after such a long time as one of the best corners in the game.

    • Brandon Ragland

Well AFC and NFC whole team stats come out today so idk. I agree though, its just prolonging things along. I guess they just do it to keep people’s interest up to the demo.

Where is Antrell Rolle? He put together a season worthy of at least a top 5 position at FS.

    • Billy Macheras

This is so true 100 tackles and six picks and carried the giants defense this man is a tank he better be a SS or something he’s a 92+ player ovr

But Donny doesn’t like the Giants so it won’t happen. Earl Thomas is good but he’s on a great defense, so all he has to do is do his part, but for Rolle not to be tied at least with Weddle is a crime within itself, but its not surprising.

Disappointed in these ratings to not see one giant in the top 5 I thought rolle would be there for sure with the season he had but I guess Donny is on drugs
