Madden NFL 16 Primer: Why 'Draft Champions' Matters

Madden 15 Seahawks Ratings

The Super Bowl Champions have arrived.
The Super Bowl Champions have arrived.

Madden 15 Seahawks ratings have joined the party this week, and not a moment too soon. For the first time this offseason, we’ve got an inside look at what the full player ratings for this year’s team will look like in EA’s most popular football video game franchise.

For any other team, the mention of a 13-3 record in 2013 would be a noteworthy achievement, however for the Seattle Seahawks it’s just a footnote in a much larger success story. After years of division titles under their belt, the Seahawks finally broke through and won the Super Bowl last year, and they did so in remarkable fashion. Against the most potent offense of all time, the Seahawks shut down the Denver Broncos and made for one of the most lopsided victories in Super Bowl history. The result? Plenty of Madden love to go around.

While veteran stars like CB Richard Sherman and Marshawn Lynch certainly got plenty of love, they’re far from the only ones rated well in Madden 15. Safety Earl Thomas is the second-highest rated at his position in the game (behind only Jairus Byrd), and young studs like RB Christine Michael will likely have an opportunity in the new season to start earning some significant ratings boosts, if all goes to plan. While the departure of WR Golden Tate and CB Brandon Browner does hurt this team from a Madden perspective, it is still absolutely loaded with talent across the board.

Check out our sorted player ratings below, which we’ve organized by position group for you, stripping away all the unessential ratings at each position to make things easier to read.

Note: RB Christine Michael has received a significant upgrade in the latest roster update.

I really dread facing the hawks this year…I want to use them, but it just takes the fun out. Eagles are a super running team so thats the seahawks weakness…probably would be the best bet to establish a good run game this year anyhow. Since the zones are going to be crazy good.

The new linebacker addition gives you opportunity to have nearly 3, 90 speed linebackers smdh

    • Brandon Ragland

None of them can blockshed though, gotta use that against them.

      • Cliston Buck

that’s when Kam Chancellor and Earl Thomas coming flying into frame lol

    • Ryan Taylor

    • Ryan Taylor

    • Joshua-Talib Timmons

      Why did he retire

      • Brandon Ragland

He kept getting injured and he just decided to call it quits.

        • Joshua-Talib Timmons

      • Cliston Buck

he had a history of concussions and im assuming he started to feel some of the effects… much respect tho… health and family over money… he made his money, now he wants to live healthy and not be walking about at 45 not knowing who or where he is sometimes…

        • Joshua-Talib Timmons

damn. what a shame. he might be inducted into the Hall Of Fame

      Richard Sherman DESERVES these stats

  • Cliston Buck

Desean Jackson ran a 4.35 and is rated 98 speed 97 acceleration… Paul Richardson ran a 4.33 but rated 94 speed 93 acceleration? P-Rich is almost 3 inches taller giving him a longer stride… SMH makes no sense… I mean sure DJ could have gotten faster but still should be close at least… anyone else agree?

What people don’t get is that Madden ratings aren’t structured to accurately reflect every single attribute perfectly. They’re trying to re-create their ability to affect the game. Example is Richard Sherman. Dude runs a 4.56. Terrell Pryor ran a 4.4, and has been clocked in the 4.3s. They both have a 91 speed rating, which definitely doesn’t accurately reflect either of them. However, Madden learned in 2004 with Michael Vick that if you give track speed quarterbacks the speed they deserve in the game (ie. 95+) they’re totally OP, and the game is broken. If Pryor had the speed rating he deserves, he’d be a total glitch. Sherm goes the other way. His 40 time deserves a speed rating in the mid to high 80s in Madden, but if they gave him anything less than 91 speed, the game wouldn’t be realistic because it’d be way too easy to beat him deep. That being the case, they bumped up his speed so he’d be able to lock down guys of most speeds.

dude ur trippin… a 6’3 stride?… Usain Bolt has a HORRIBLE 40 for an Olympic sprinter but his long stride makes his top speed INSANE at 6’4 6’5… when have u EVER seen Sherman get burnt on a go route? D. Bryant, C. Johnson, D. Jackson, D. Thomas, M. Crabtree… 0 holding calls… how do u think Sherman is staying on top of these guys? it isn’t magic… Sherman is a WR playing CB with elite WR speed… honestly they could boost him to a 92 or 93 and it would be hard to argue with… after seeing P-Rich play im comfortable with his ratings… his speed (94) didn’t translate that well from track to field… I think hes still a premiere talent at WR and KR but Sherman in the high 80s? LMFAO B. Brower is in the high 80s buddy… he had 3 or 4 holding calls just against the Pats and he didn’t even play the first 4 games… I repeat 0 holding calls on Sherman and 0 WRs burning him 1v1 on a go route… the ONLY way Sherman ever gets worked is underneath routes and double moves… why do u think that is? if he was 5’11 with 4.56 AND getting burnt every now and then by an elite WR then MAYBE u could argue high 80s but a legit 6’3 ex WR and never gets burnt over the top? don’t think so LMAO iv heard people try to discredit ALOT of things about Sherman but his speed a high 80? LMFAO that’s a first SMH

Guys don’t burn him often because he’s great at bumping guys at the line, not because he’s that fast. He gets beat on three or four go-routs in this video. He also doesn’t have to cover those guys every play because he stays on one side of the field. He also has a couple guys name Thomas and Chancellor behind him and plays in a Cover 3 system that doesn’t leave him on the island much.
