Madden NFL 15 is seeing new ratings released every day for two weeks, and with the top rookies and quarterbacks behind us, today is the day we get to see which running backs crack the top five in this year’s football video game from EA SPORTS, per their official blog.

Not surprisingly, Adrian Peterson is sitting comfortably as the top rated RB in Madden NFL 15 with 98 overall. At 29-years-old Peterson is still a once in a generation talent, with a rare combination of speed, power, vision and athleticism that easily puts him on a short list of the best the game has ever seen.

With “only” 1,266 rushing yards on 4.5 yards per carry, Peterson had a bit of a down year last year by his own standards, but that doesn’t stop him from being ranked as the league’s best in Madden NFL 15. Coming in at second is a tie between Jamaal Charles and LeSean McCoy at 97 overall, who both enjoyed career years in receiving and rushing respectively. There are few backs in the league with the kind of speed, finesse, versatility and big-play ability possessed by these two studs, so it’s no surprise they’re rated equally heading into the new season.

Marshawn Lynch and Matt Forte fill out the rest of the top five, with both sporting impressive 95 overall ratings. Lynch was a critical cog in the Seattle Seahawks Super Bowl run last season, while Matt Forte established himself as a dangerous receiving threat with 594 receiving yards. I have no doubt fans will continue to debate which one of these backs are better, just as everyone is still fighting over which top rookie receiver is best.

Adrian Peterson is just ungodly every year. He’s got to be the best back in Madden history. Other backs might have his speed, or even faster, but no one that I can think of has all the stats he has, PLUS a ridiculous 88 strength.

I like Charles and McCoy but good job to EA for not being too reactionary and putting them above Peterson. Peterson is still the best.
